I'll make the rounds tomorrow and see who's got in stock. I don't do the download thing if I can avoid it.

Horrible. Not the game, but I got about 30% into the 12GB install and now it has slowed to a crawl. 6% in about 5 minutes. I might just go to sleep.

55 minute install. Includes about 5 minute updating upon completion. See if you can beat my time.

Had my first crash. Returning from playing the "arcade" game in the game, got hung up on a loading screen and then dropped to desktop saying something was corrupt. Now a fancy repair utility is verifying my install.

Side note: iPistol is awesome.

Is it true that there is only 1 campaign for the terrans and no zerg or protoss singleplayer stuff?

It doesn't f'n tell you. Supposedly you have to buy the Zerg and Protoss campaigns separately. So, got another crash. Apparently the death sound of one of the big boomers got corrupt and its fixing it now. It verifies the entire game installation each time so tell me how it got corrupt this time?

edit: whoops, silly me. There were no errors. It just crashed and said there was a corrupt file because it didn't want to be embarrassed by crashing without a reason.

Well, I got my copy at 1pm from BB. It looks like I'm playing more than BMC from his crashing/verifying issues. -1 for you downloading suckers.

Anyway, first impressions:

i. The first 3 pages of the "manual" are troubleshooting/support pages. Not a good sign. The rest of it is a story...this is a good sign I guess, meaning you don't need to read through a 50pg manual to run the game.
ii. 12 GB install. Yeesh.
iii. Registering online was a minor PITA. No Blizzard, you're not getting my address and ph#.

After ~ 7 hrs of campaign...
1. Graphics are great. Cut scenes graphics are even better.
2. Sound is good, music is annoying.
3. The maps are more like DOW than Sup Comm (read: small). They make good use of terrain and don't seem to have angle issues shooting up or down hills (one of Sup Comms' faults).
4. Even with small maps, and huge (physical size) units (har har), you still need 400438437550234 of them to win. What I mean is you have to have about a 2:1 or 3:1 ratio to beat other units. This especially true against the Protoss vehicles. I'm taking into account vehicle/person types here, so no, I'm not trying to kill a tank with one marine, get it?
5. I'm playing the campaign on "normal" based on their description. It's not easy, but I feel like it should be more difficult. I recommend playing it on one up from "Normal".
6. Unit control is as taxing as ever. Why can't they learn from SupComm??? Yes, you can give successive commands, but once you're done giving them, you better remember, because there's no way to see them (SupComm shows you routes, etc, after you let go of the shift key, SC doesn't). You also can end up telling your workers/engineers/builders to attack because when you highlight a certain area to select units to attack, it includes your engineers. That's stupid, and again SupComm got it right here. Unit control is not a deal-breaker, but it's still not to the level of SupComm.
7. The buildings are distinct enough to quickly pick the right building for whatever build you want.
8. I have not run in to a "OMG, you aren't playing fast enough" mission yet. I've had missions with timers, but they paced the mission well.
9. Resource gathering/control is good.

Ah well, I'll add more if I think of it. This will be a nice break from other RTS's, but it will not be #1, nor will it be the one you play a ton (IMO).

Also, it came with two guest passes for 7hrs or 10 days. Anyone want it? They included the same for WOW, but what fucking retard still plays that??

Sos....since Knights list "only" contained 9 items this time and some of them werent utterly bad: how is this game?
Any good and worth the money? Since I'mlacking the time I'm mostly interested in singleplayer.

Well, it took me ~ 21 hrs to complete the single player missions. I played them on "normal" because I don't play games to get frustrated. I might go back and play them on "hard". There were only a few additional notes on the game:

1. Telling me what I need to do for an achievement AFTER the mission doesn't help me much (neither does reaching for your mouse and knocking over your beer).
2. There is one less mission than listed. My guess is one of the last missions you make a choice on, and the one you don't do is counted as a mission any way. Don't let the fool you.
3. You MUST have a balanced force. You can't go in with just air vehicles or just ground vehicles. I guess that's good.

Is it worth $60? I dunno. Just the single player may not be. I think though, that if I get a couple weeks out of the multi, I'll have got my moneys' worth. The story and cut scenes are really good...not "it took us 10 yrs" good, but good.

Pretty good summary. Thanks man!
Guess I'll save time (and money) and pick it up at one point when it gets cheaper and I have more time then.

Is it obsessive compulsive nerddom that I'm annoyed the Goliaths shot missiles at a building, and that that bunker failed to kill one of the two Dragoons?

And here I thought I was the only one. I was surprised the bunker didn't take both out considering 'goons have paper shields and negligible health and that bunker can soak up some decent damage.

Yeah, at least even me noticed that the Goliath used the "wrong" guns (although I completetly missed about the bunker).
I think what makes us nerds is the fact that we're bitching about this (awesome) movie lol.
